Trivia Night #2!

Friday, September 18th, 2009

WHEN: Friday, 25th September, 6-9PM

WHERE: Carslaw 351

WHY: Why not

Hey look the trivia is here! Again!

The Trivia Night, also known as the Shameless Excuse To Sit Around A Room In Carslaw Eating Pizza And Watching Suzaku Laugh For Ten Minutes, was a hit last year (all right, a light tap) and this time we are giving more advance notice like we are supposed to!

The idea is simple: Show up, have something to drink, do some trivia, have some pizza, and hang out. Mostly the trivia part. The questions are mostly multiple choice, but I’m going to try and mix it up this year with some different things. The questions are mostly anime-related because otherwise it would just be silly, but we do our best to make the trivia accessible to everyone.  To give you an idea, here are some sample questions from last time:

Which of the following anime series is NOT based on an RPG?
a) Tales of the Abyss
b) Valkyria Chronicles
c) Phantom of Inferno
d) Star Ocean

Which of these is not a Pokemon?
a) Charmander
b) Blaziken
c) Darkrai
d) Yoshi

In TTGL, Simon leaps through time and space to stop Rossiu from killing himself by…
a) Talking him out of it
b) Tying him up
c) Forgiving him
d) Punching him in the face

(No you don’t need to send me the answers. I forgot them anyway!)

There are all kinds of categories ranging from the latest season of anime to the oldest shows to Janken King to Books Written By People Who Were Assassinated By The Irish Republican Army (back by popular demand!). Prizes are up for grabs, though personally I think the good times and the pizza are reward enough.

It is free entry, though there is a pizza tax ($5 for members and $8 nonmembers, which gets you a whole pizza to yourself and a free drink). Additional drinks are probably  $1.

RSVP to me at events@suanime.org by noon on Thursday the 24thwith the usual details. Specify a pizza preference as well because we are going to order the pizza shortly after six, and you can either give your pizza pref in email, show up ON TIME or beg for scraps.

See you there!

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

This is the major get-together where the elections for the new exec team for 2009/2010 are held! The sum of it is that ANY club member (that is you have signed up as a member some time during this year, which means you also have an ACCESS card) can nominate themselves or accept nominations for any exec position(s) AND you can vote in the elections of your fellow peers too! To nominate for or to find out more about a position send an email to personnel@suanime.org

WHEN: 6 – 9 pm, Friday 9th October

WHERE: Eastern Avenue Seminar Room 116

We will also be discussing amendments to our constitution at the AGM. The constitution of the club states how we manage the club. The executive team is proposing the following amendments to the constitution to be discussed and possibly voted upon at the AGM:

Motion 1: To change the number of times to meet per semester for an ordinary meeting to every four (4) weeks. An ordinary meeting is the place where you as a member can discuss and help plan events etc of the club – to participate in the running of the club without necessarily being an exec! XD

Motion 2: To discuss the executive position, the Librarian, and its possible future role in the club. (I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t know there was even a Librarian exec – the librarian has been very, very quiet…! =P)

 Hope to see you there!

Trivia Night!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Carslaw Room 351, Thursday April 23rd, 6-9PM

Hey look the trivia is here!

The Trivia Night is exactly what it says on the tin. Rock up, have some pizza and drinks, and indulge in some trivia. Mostly multiple-choice stuff, but there’ll be a few different rounds if you’re into that kind of thing. The questions will be mostly anime-related, obviously, but we try our best to make sure even the people who only signed up for the club so they could watch something better than the odd episode of Pokemon on Cheez TV before school can have a good time. Prizes are up for grabs, though they aren’t treasures you will cherish for the rest of your life or anything, so come for the pizza and the good times!

It is free entry, though there is a pizza tax ($5 for members and $8 nonmembers, which gets you a whole pizza to yourself and a free drink). Additional drinks are $1.

RSVP to me at events@suanime.org by noon on Thursday with the usual details. If you don’t specify a pizza preference as well (via email or in-person) before we order the pizza at around 6:15, you won’t get any. Incentive to show up on time? Here’s hoping.

See you there!
