NOTICE!     There will be no regular Art Socials nor Screening Socials during the Easter Break!  Please do not try to show up at regular locations, because they will be unattended.

Subtitle Competition

We’ve seen it all the time when we watch anime – now let’s take a shot at it! Provide a caption for the screen shots featured on our 2010 membership cards and you could win your own “subtitled” membership card!

Round 1 is STILL open!

Entries for Round 1 close Sunday 4th April 2010

To enter, simply leave a comment on our art competition page on our website – easy as that.

Good luck and happy subtitling!

New Competition – ‘The Name Game!’

There is a new competition for interested members starting up after the mid-semester break! To some it may be a familiar game and it is trivia-like – essentially it is to name the character and anime of these screen shots.

The competition is FREE to enter – but you do need to be a member. It will go for 8 weeks and its suited for even the not-so-serious anime watchers. And there will be prizes!

Registration into the competition is required. To register simply email your name and membership ID to competition@suanime.org. Registration will close at the end of Week 6.

To give you all a taste of the competition, here are some screen shots of a selection of anime, new and old. Name the anime and/or character. For a bonus point, identify who’s body feature the last one belongs to, too. You can send your answers to us and we’ll let you know how you went!

Happy naming!

Upcoming-upcoming Events: Laser Tag!

SUAnime is planning to hold a Laser Tag event again this year.  We would like all members interested in participating to  send us an email.  We hope you will be interested in joining this event!  It will certainly be a big event, most likely held on a Friday or Saturday night.  Keep in touch for more details.

Thursday, February 18th, 2010
2010-o-week

Happy 2010, Friends of SUAnime!

It’s coming to the start of a new uni semester and to kick start it off we invite you, new and old friends, to celebrate another awesome O-Week with us.

Aside from the usual USU O-Week festivities, SUAnime has a few of their own:

  • Take a snap of yourself at our photo station, with your head in place of Goku or Pikachu!
  • Find and hug Domo Kun, roaming around the campus!
  • Take a crash course in our ANIME1001 and find out what is and is not…
  • Take the Iron Artist challenge (!)
  • Relax and escape from the heat (or rain) in our anime screenings of new and classic episodes

So swing by our stall outside the new Law building on Eastern Ave Bvd and say HI! and join up for another guaranteed awesome year!

Can’t wait to see you!

~Sindy // Saki

DETAILS

  • USU 2010 O-Week is held at the Camperdown campus between 24th and 26th February, 9am – 4pm.
  • SUAnime (Anime Society) is located outside the new Law Building, stall 71. Membership is only $5 with an Access Card.
  • ANIME1001 and the Iron Artist challenge will be held at the Time Capsule Tent – Wednesday 24th February, 11.30am – 12.30pm.
  • The O-Week anime screenings will be held in Carslaw lecture theatre 275 throughout O-Week at 1 – 2pm.
  • The photo station will be operating outside our stall at certain times:
    • Wednesday 24th February – 12:30 – 1:30pm
    • Thursday 25th February – 12:30pm – 2:30pm
    • Friday 26th February – 12:30 – 2:30pm

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

This is the major get-together where the elections for the new exec team for 2009/2010 are held! The sum of it is that ANY club member (that is you have signed up as a member some time during this year, which means you also have an ACCESS card) can nominate themselves or accept nominations for any exec position(s) AND you can vote in the elections of your fellow peers too! To nominate for or to find out more about a position send an email to personnel@suanime.org

WHEN: 6 – 9 pm, Friday 9th October

WHERE: Eastern Avenue Seminar Room 116

We will also be discussing amendments to our constitution at the AGM. The constitution of the club states how we manage the club. The executive team is proposing the following amendments to the constitution to be discussed and possibly voted upon at the AGM:

Motion 1: To change the number of times to meet per semester for an ordinary meeting to every four (4) weeks. An ordinary meeting is the place where you as a member can discuss and help plan events etc of the club – to participate in the running of the club without necessarily being an exec! XD

Motion 2: To discuss the executive position, the Librarian, and its possible future role in the club. (I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t know there was even a Librarian exec – the librarian has been very, very quiet…! =P)

 Hope to see you there!

~ SAKI
