UPDATE! Beach BBQ!

by sakiEvents

AnimeMQ, AnimeUNSW, SUAnime Presents:

Joint Beach BBQ

Konnichi-wa minna-san!

How’s everyone doing in their first 5 extremely quick weeks of uni? Yep, it was pretty fast aye? Well during this time, the presidents and events directors of AnimeUNSW, AnimeMQ and SUAnime have gotten together in the past week to bring you guys another another joint event!!!

Since it is nearing the end of summer, we have decided to live our vibrant young lives to the fullest by doing something that us young people do (and probably fantasize about) and that is… A BEACH PARTY!!! However, currently everything is still being organised so some activities may not be included as we might not have some resources for them

There will be plenty of activities organised for the beach party! These activities may be:

- Blindfolded Watermelon Breaking Contest

- Kibasen (Cavalry Battle!)

- Tug o’ war (if we find a nice sturdy rope)

- Volley ball

- Sandcastle building contest

- Flag Race!

- Borrowing game!

There will be dinner after the event, however it will be announced in the future as to where we will be eating at, so please be advised!!!

The following details are:

When: 9th of April (Friday)

Where:

If busing with members – Hungry Jacks @ Central station

If making your own way there – Coogee Beach *near the corner of Carr Street and Arden Street*

Map of the meeting location

Dinner - TBA

Time: 10 to 10:30am if meeting to catch the bus @ Central Station (Hungry Jacks), and 11am at Coogee Beach. Dinner is around 6:30 to 7pm

Cost: About 20 bucks for dinner. Non-members at the BBQ will be charged 5 bucks for the snags!

How to get there:

Train: Train to Central to catch the following buses

Buses: Catch the 372, 373 or 374 from CBD to get to Coogee Beach. (Coogee beach is located 5 mins east of UNSW)

Car: From UNSW, drive east on High Street and follow onto Coogee Bay Road and you should see Coogee beach directly in front of you.

Subtitle Competition

Round 1 of our inaugural subtitle competition is now closed. Thank you to everyone who has entered our first subtitle competition! There were great entries and we’re having a hard time deciding the winners.

The winners for both card images will be announced at the start of Week 6, along with the opening of Round 2 with new ‘raw stills’. The winners will be receiving a new membership card with their winning subtitles captioned to the relevant images!

Visit our art competition page to view the subtitle submissions of Round 1.

The Name Game Competition

Earn points by correctly identifying the anime and character in a series of screen captures to win some Kinokuniya vouchers and club merchandise and tickets.

Register by sending an email to competition@suanime.org. The competition is FREE to both members and non-members (although only members can win the major prizes). Registration closes at the end of Week 6.

For more information about the competition, buzz Sindy at competition@suanime.org too.

To give you all a taste of the competition, here are some screen shots of a selection from old and familiar anime. Name the anime and character. For a bonus point, identify who’s eye the last one belongs to, too!
